The Lock

This morning found me walking by the Thames - really good place to think (or not to think depending on your frame of mind!)
Anyway, the animals and birds obviously get up as soon as it's dawn - there were ducks everywhere and fabulous green parakeets.
Penton Lock is closed for repairs at the moment (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/navigation/747415/150319/150631/?lang=_e)
and there was a diver sitting on the side of the lock, waiting to jump in, and he was texting on his mobile! It looked very strange.

As the swans swim across the river, against the current, they appear to look from left to right regularly, as if they are crossing a road and looking for traffic. Perhaps they are always aware that a boat might come by.
